Growth Mindset is an individual journey and every story will be different. Here is how Mineola ended their first year of this experiment.

Of course, a dedication to Growth Mindset is a journey without an ending. There are always ways to continue learning, finding new obstacles, and grow even further.

Looking at Results

As an element of Growth Mindset, teachers and students review results and data from the year and discuss why they were able to reach their goals.

Denise Brennan on “A Sense of Accomplishment”

I wasn’t quite sure what I had signed up for when I agreed to be a part of the “process”, but the idea of Growth Mindset intrigued me. I had been looking for something “different” in my approach to teaching and this seemed like it could be it. It turned out to be “that” and so much more.

I admit I learned more about myself than I did my students, but I think that needed to happen before I could use it to better serve my students. It wasn’t an easy process; what I thought would be fairly easy, turned into a very arduous, frustrating and humbling experience. But, I am in such a better place as an educator and as a person, because of it. I am forever thankful to have been introduced to what Growth Mindset is (and just as importantly, what it isn’t), and it has rejuvenated my excitement for teaching after almost 20 years.
